    The December Charlie West Spotlight is Master Sgt. Jessica Anderson. Anderson is a Unit Training Manager (UTM) at the 130th Civil Engineering Squadron, and has been with the unit for just over a year. She is responsible for providing leadership and mentorship to squadron personnel while managing unit training programs during peacetime, wartime, and contingency operations in addition to being an advisor to the 130th CE Commander.

    Unless you have been living under a rock you have probably heard countless times that “personnel readiness” is of utmost importance, and as such it is at the top of a list of priorities set forth by Wing leadership. For most Airmen in the wing, I’m sure readiness seems pretty simple; turn in a completed dental form once a year, attend all medical appointments, get a flu shot, ensure all ancillary training is completed on time, complete required upgrade training, etc.

    When people speak of the 130th Airlift Wing, a small Air National Guard unit in Charleston, W.Va., one common theme comes up. Family. Now, it usually isn’t literal, it is representative of the close-knit community and camaraderie which ties the Airmen of the unit together. In this case we are talking about one particular family who are spread across different squadrons within the Wing.

Children and adults alike will be telling tales of specters, decorating their homes with ghostly images, and wearing costumes straight out of a nightmare. Ever since I was a child I’ve always enjoyed this time of year; the trick-or-treating, costumes, scary movies, and haunted houses that make the blood run cold and shivers cross your spine.
