130th Airlift Wing called to flood relief duty in Gilbert, W.Va.
Tech. Sgt. Daryl Nelson, of the West Virginia Air National Guard 130th Airlift Wing Medical Group, coordinates the task of getting supplies to residents of Mingo County, W.Va. who are only accessible by small all-terrain-vehicles after floods ravaged the town of Gilbert, W.Va, May 23, 2009. Tech. Sgt. Nelson volunteered for the duty after flash flooding on May 9, 2009 washed out roads and bridges across Mingo and Wyoming counties in southern part of the state, damaging hundreds of homes, schools and businesses. It's a team effort involving thousands of neighbors and hundreds of National Guard troops, relief agency personnel, government agency employees and coal and gas company personnel.
