Guardian angel saves life
Tech. Sgt. Roy L. Akers, a civil engineer with the 130th Civil Engineering Squadron, 130th Airlift Wing, Charleston, W.Va., points to Ashley N. Parker's arm where it was severed in a car accident. Tech. Sgt. Akers received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Feb. 6, for his actions on August 13, 2010, in which he saved Parker’s life by holding pressure on her arm to stop bleeding until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. Parker's severed arm was reattached and she is beginning to have feeling in the arm again. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Eugene R. Crist)
