Lt. Col. Richard Switzer is the commander, 130th Operations Group, McLaughlin Air National Base, Charleston, West Virginia. He is responsible for 263 military personnel and provides mission ready aircrews and Aeromedical evacuation crews that are deployable worldwide. He also serves as a C-130 Weapons Officer and Evaluator Navigator.  
Lt. Col. Switzer enlisted the 130th Airlift Wing in 1994 as an Information Management specialist. While enlisted in Mission Support, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Lt Col Switzer was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2000 upon completion of the Academy of Military Science. He has served as commander of 130th Airlift Squadron, Director of Operations, Chief of Tactics, and Instructor Navigator. Lt Col Switzer was activated for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in 2003 and served as a line navigator with the 485th Air Expeditionary Wing, Tabuk Saudi Arabia, the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Al Udeid Air Base Qatar, the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing, Karshi Khanabad, Uzbekistan, the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, Ali Al Salem, Kuwait, and the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. Other major deployments include Operation Freedom Sentinel, Operation Enduring Freedom, Coronet Oak (Puerto Rico), Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Odyssey Dawn.
Lt Col Switzer has over 3,500 military flying hours.
